Training On Consumer Protection Rights

Consumer Protection Rights training was organized at KROSS Resource Centre on 30.08.2017 in which 62 participants from the Diocesan Social Work Centres and Federation Leaders from all over the State participated.

Mr. G. M. Varghese, KROSS welcomed the gathering and also addressed the participants saying that the Consumer Protection Rights is a law designed to ensure the rights of consumers, practice of fair trade and accurate information to the consumer about the product particularly where safety or public health is involved so that the consumer can make a better choice.

The Training was facilitated by Mr. Y. G. Muralidharan, Consumer Rights Education and Awareness Trust (CREAT), Bengaluru who explained the Act and also gave concrete examples of the buyer approaching the Consumer Forum for getting redressal for deficiency in product or service.

Fr. Sebastian Fernandes, Director, KROSS worked out an action plan in concurrence with the participants and said that within 3 months concrete action needs to happen and tangible results seen so that both the buyers and the sellers are alert and fair trade is practiced.

Ms Kavitha, CMSSS moderated the session and Mr. Mohan, CMSSS proposed the vote of thanks.
