STATE LEVEL JUSTICE & PEACE COMMISSION MEET - 27TH SEPTEMBER 2018.

The Karnataka Region Justice & Peace Commission Meet was organized with the collaboration of Karnataka Regional Organization for Social Service (KROSS) at KROSS Resource Centre, Bengaluru on 27th September, 2018 in which 32 participants from the Dioceses of Karnataka participated.

The Meeting commenced with a Hymn, Gospel Reading and Prayer led by Fr. Peter Ashirwad, Secretary, Belagavi Diocese Justice & Peace Commission.

This was followed with lighting of the lamp and inaugural address by Rt. Rev. Dr. Gerald Lobo, Chairman, Justice & Peace Commission who exhorted the participants to make the Indian Constitution widely known so that the people uphold the values of the India Constitution. He said that we have to be Agents of Peace so that we can promote Fraternity which would assure dignity of the individual and unity and integrity of the Nation.

On this occasion a hand-book on Modules to help teaching Constitutional Values was released by Rt. Rev. Dr. Gerald Lobo, Chairman, Justice & Peace Commission, Rev. Fr. Eugene Lobo, Secretary, Karnataka Region Education Commission, Rev. Fr. Sebastian Fernandes, Regional Secretary, Justice & Peace Commission & Advocate Sr. Juliet Cutinha, Joint Secretary, Justice & Peace Commission.

Rev. Fr. Eugene Lobo, Secretary, Karnataka Region Education Commission said that we should lay the foundation for learning the values of the Constitution in all our schools first and then spread this in the society.

On this occasion a Seminar on Indian Constitution and Human Rights was organized which was facilitated by Advocate Sr. Juliet Cutinha. She provided the salient features of the Indian Constitution, the Preamble, Fundamental Rights & Duties and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Rev. Fr. Sebastian Fernandes, Regional Secretary, Justice & Peace Commission gave a brief presentation of the work done by the Dioceses in promoting Justice & Peace.

The meeting ended with a vote of thanks by Rev. Fr. Reginald Pinto, Secretary, Udupi Diocese Justice & Peace Commission.
