Training On Gender Mainstreaming

A Training on Gender Mainstreaming was held at KROSS Resource Centre, Bangalore on 21st & 22nd September, 2017 for the 2nd batch of Women Empowerment Program Staff to create awareness that gender mainstreaming is an accepted approach or means to achieve the goal of gender equality.The training was attended by 40 participants from all over Karnataka.

Sr. Nancy Lobo, Consultant for Women Empowerment Program in her introductory remarks commented that gender inequality is not just a women-centric problem but that which affects humanity.

Rev. Fr. Sebastian Fernandes, Director, KROSS in his keynote address asked the participants not to be just passive observers but to actively participate and work towards inclusive gender equality so that no section of the society is looked down upon or felt left out.

Prof. Rita Noronha who facilitated the training made the participants understand the basic concept of gender, complementarity of the sexes, need for promotion of gender equality through discussion, analysis, role plays and case stories.

Mr. Tony D’souza, KDDC, Karwar and Ms Bharati, JVSSS, Mandya moderated the sessions. Mr. Staney Fernandes, Sampada, Udupi welcomed the gathering and Ms Akshatha Kumari, KDDC, Karwar proposed the vote of thanks.
