A training on Organic Farming was organized at KROSS Resource Centre on 16th January 2018 in which 60 participants from all over the state of Karnataka participated.

Rev. Fr. Sebastian Fernandes, Director, KROSS in his keynote address said that we may not be able to switchover to organic farming at once but we should start promoting organic farming concept so that the farming community is convinced to reduce the usage of chemical fertilizers and use these along with organic compost and manure so that over a period of time chemical fertilizers could be done away with and thus create a viable model for the future of agriculture.

Dr. Rajashekar, Project Officer, KROSS introduced the Resource Person, Dr. Prabhu C. Ganiger, Principal Investigator, UAS and gave a brief of his experience.

The Resource Person, Dr. Prabhu C. Ganiger then took over and explained the background and the need for soil testing & management, organic farming, bio-pesticides, the best practices to be adopted, effects due to misuse of natural resources and the methodology to be adopted in irrigated and non-irrigated.

Mr. Clement Fernandes, Manager-Program Support, KROSS moderated the training, Mr. G. M. Varghese, Project Officer, KROSS welcomed the participants and Ms Ajitha, Coordinator, KIDS, Puttur proposed the vote of thanks.
