What We Do

Promoting Gender Equality and Empowering Women :

Most deprived communities are supported to enhance their livelihood opportunities. The Self- Help- Groups provide a platform for the poor women to understand their situation, support one another and the collectively take action to better their life- situation and re-claim their human dignity. KROSS and its member organizations play a facilitative role.

Impacts:
  • More than 20,000 rural women are supported enroll and obtain job cards under MG-NREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act).
  • About 4611 poor women from the most backward communities are supported to start micro enterprise which has doubled their income.
  • Over 17,000 women have acquired productive assets and are oriented to claim their Right to property and other resources. A total of 113 poor rural youth have been provided with skills training and are gainfully employed to support themselves and their family members.
  • The SHG women have mobilized various schemes from Government through their own collective action for individual and community benefit. through collective effort.
  • About 130,000 SHG women practice regular Savings and the money is being revolved as loans amongst
KR0SS’ IMPACTS :

Over 9,000 Community Based Organisations are formed, trained and oriented to become agents of social change.

More than 3000 capacity building trainings are conducted on Good Governance, Right to Information, Consumer Rights, Social Audit, NREGA (National Rural Employment Guarantee Act) Panchayat Raj Institution (Local Self Governance) etc to create awareness at the grass root.

About 16762 people are enabled to enroll themselves under NREGA. obtain job cards and play active role for it’s proper implementation.

More than 11000 poor families are supported to obtain BPL cards and avail all the facilities they are entitled to.

More than 5000 families are supported to claim their Right to housing under various schemes.

More than 150 PHCs ( Primary Health Centres) are activated due to the lobbying role played by Community Based Organisations. Today, more than 1500 CBO members have emerged as key leaders in the Village Health and Sanitation Committees.

About 200Anganwadis, are re-activated due to the collective action by the community.

More than 2350 poor women are supported to start Micro enterprises to alleviate poverty.
