Combating HIV/AIDS, Malaria and Other Diseases
|
HIV/AIDS is no longer a mere
health issue
but needs to be viewed holistically as a major developmental concern.
KROSS, in
collaboration with CBOs, NGOs and the government, is
working hard to combat the epidemic and provide care and support to
those
affected.
SNEHA:
The focus of SNEHA
project is capacitating communities in 500 villages to ensure care and
support
for people living with HIV and AIDS and building
linkages for treatment.
Our
programme includes:
Creating awareness about HIV and
AIDS and
sensitising the community,
Self-Help Groups, Federations, High school students, NSS
students, youth
and general public. Awareness sessions on the modes of transmission of
HIV and
AIDS were conducted in 356 villages for around 2,00,000 people.
One of the main
focus in this programme will be:
Networking and collaboration - Networking
with other NGOS, CBOS,
Day Care Centers, Anganwadis, schools, colleges and Self-help
Groups.
Linking with
Government institutions like district
hospitals, IEC centers, Voluntary Counselling and Testing Centres
(VCTC),
Prevention of Parent to Child Transmission (PPTCT), Primary Health
Centers,
etc.
|

identified and are receiving community-based care and support. They are
provided with medical, nutritional, psycho-social support by the
community and Government health services
- Three member partners have become models as they
