Reducing Child Mortality and Improving Maternal Health

KROSS, in partnership with its member organisations educates, women in rural areas on reproductive health, preventive and promotive health and nutrition. The women now go to the primary health centres for regular check-ups during pregnancy and go to hospitals or trained midwives. In many places, the Self-Help Groups actively monitor the effective functioning of the Primary Health centres. As a result the child mortality and maternal mortality rate has reduced considerably at least among 50,000 women and their families.

The services of KROSS directly benefits around 6,00,000 people from 1,50,000 poor families in the South Indian state of Karnataka.
