Cluster level training
TCluster level training on Constitutional Rights was organised at SMSSS,
Shivamogga on 6 th and 7 th of November 2023 and 48 participants were present.
The Constitutional Rights from the bedrock of a democratic society, ensuring
the protection of individual liberties and defining the relationship between
citizens and the government. The training was conducted in order to provide a
brief overview of constitutional rights, their significance, and their role in
fostering and equitable society.
The day began with the prayer and an introduction by Rev Fr Clifford Roshan
Pinto and Mrs Laina Lasrado.
The speakers for the day Mr HB Devendrappa, Legal Aid Advocate, District
Legal Services Authority, Shivamogga, spoke about the Fundamental Rights of
the Constitution, Mr Seetharam SK, Advocate, District Advocate Association
spoke about the Property Rights for women and Mr Chandan N, Civil Judge and
member secretary, Shivamogga spoke about the Legal Services assistance.
Mrs Ashwini, Deputy Principal Legal Aid Advocate, District legal services gave
a brief talk about the Women Rights. Women rights are an integral part of any
society striving for equality, justice and progress. Constitutional rights play a
crucial role in safeguarding and advancing the status of women.
On the second day Mr Winnie Matthew spoke about the Information about
Sakhi and its importance followed by Mrs Leelakshi’s speech on Women Rights
and Empowerment. The participants gained more knowledge on the key
Constitutional Rights and their significance like Freedom of Speech, Right to
Equality, Milestones in Women Rights, Right to Privacy etc and their
significance in limiting government power, preserving individual freedom and
fostering democracy.
