FEDERATION CAPACITY BUILDING AT SHIVAMOGGA

On July 20th, 2023, capacity enhancement program was organized at Chaitanya, SMSSS, Shivamogga, with the aim of forming a state-level women's federation. The event was attended by 53 participation from partner organizations, including BDDS Ballari, BDSSS Belagavi, ORBIT Kalaburgi, MSSS Bhadravathi, and SMSSS Shivamogga. The program commenced with a prayer by the participants, followed by a welcome speech delivered by Ms. Vathsala, a staff member of SMSSS.

Representatives from the federation, five of them from DSSSs shared their experiences in addressing women and community-related issues at their respective locations, utilizing the federation as a platform. Fr. Abraham, the director of MSSS, expressed his appreciation for all the federation members and congratulated the attending women for their participation in the training. He encouraged the participants to make the most of the workshop.

Rev. Fr. Richard Pais, the Executive Director of KROSS, conducted a session on goal-setting and its significance in women's empowerment. He provided insights on what constitutes goals, how to establish them effectively, and the importance of involving people in the goal-setting process. Furthermore, he discussed the current goals and objectives of the Women's Empowerment Program. The participants found this session particularly valuable in strengthening their respective DSSSs' federations.

Mr. Jagadeesh, the SMSSS Coordinator, explained the concept of Self-Help Groups (SHG), Grassroots Federation (GRF), Taluk Level Federation (TLF), District Level Federation (DLF), and the importance of strengthening federations and establishing networks with like-minded organizations.

Sr. Nancy Lobo, the State Coordinator of KROSS, assigned group activities to the participants concerning the bye-laws of the state-level federation, and the participants presented their findings. Fr. Richard Pais, the Director of KROSS, further elaborated on the concept of a state-level federation through interactive discussions, exchanging knowledge and insights with the participants.

The program concluded with representatives from the five DSSSs sharing their experiences and understanding of the day's sessions. Finally, at 4:00 pm, the event concluded with a word of appreciation to all the stakeholders by Fr. Richard Pais, the Director of KROSSS, and vote of thanks by expressing gratitude to all the participants and organizers for their active involvement and contributions by Mr. Jagadeesh the coordinator of SMSSS.
