Two-Day Panchayat Raj Training in KDDC Karwar: Empowering Local Governance

A two-day Panchayat Raj training program was recently held in KDDC-Karwar on 26th & 27th September 2023, aimed at strengthening local governance and empowering rural communities.

Th training was attended by the members of the Women Federation and few staff members from 3 different partner organizations- KDDC- Karwar, MSSS- Bhadravathi, SMSSS- Shivamogga. The training commenced with a Prayer followed by the Welcome address by Rev Fr Stevan D’Souza.

The speaker of the two-day training program was Mr Savers Fernandes.

The training started with an interactive session on the importance of Panchayat Raj in promoting grassroots democracy and inclusive development. Participants gained insights into the functions, structure, and responsibilities of the Panchayat system.

The second day focused on practical aspects of Panchayat Raj, including planning and implementing local development projects, ensuring effective service delivery, and resolving local disputes. The training also highlighted the role of technology in enhancing governance at the grassroots level.

The key takeaways of the program were Empowering local communities, strengthening governance and leveraging technology.
