COVID-19 Corona Virus Response

The COVID-19 Corona Virus pandemic sudden lockdown from 23.03.2020 to 31.05.2020 (70 days) saw a tragic turn of events in the lives of the people of Karnataka especially the daily wage earners and the people caught unawares as they were bereft of the basics for the day to day living.

Karnataka Regional Organization for Social Service (KROSS) under the able leadership of its President, Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi left no stone unturned in fanning out to the villages through its Diocesan Social Service Societies and reached out to the poor and the needy. KROSS was able to distribute the following material during the troubled times:

01. Ration/Grocery Kits - 1275
02. Masks - 8940
03. Sanitizers - 4150
04. Awareness Programs - 120

This was possible with the support of Kindermissionswerk, Germany and Samrudi Rural Upliftment Foundation, Bengaluru. KROSS acknowledges their generosity and conveys their heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the President and KROSS Team.

This also served as an additional opportunity to provide some employment to SHG members who took on the responsibility of stitching the masks which provided them some income during this hard time.
