TRAINING ON RIGHTS BASED APPROACH TO DEVELOPMENT - 15Th JUNE 2018

A Training on Rights Based Approach to Development was organized at KROSS Resource Centre on 15th June 2018 in which 36 participants from all over Karnataka State participated.

Rights based approach is promoted to achieve a positive transformation of power relation between the two stake holders, i.e., the rights holders who do not experience full rights and the duty bearers who are obligated to fulfil the holders’ rights, hence we have to capacitate and empower the right holders so that they take up the issues with the duty bearers and lobby to get their just dues said Rev. Fr. Sebastian Fernandes, Director, KROSS in his key note address.

Fr. Fasutine Lobo, National Director, PMO. Bengaluru who facilitated the training first explained what the term Rights Based Approach meant and how we should integrate the rights in our ongoing projects by making them aware of the principles and practices and how to apply these in the planning & implementation stages. The method adopted was:

• Introduction to concept of Rights Based Approach
• Clarity on Fundamental Rights & Human Rights
• Analysing the programs undertaken and how to integrate the rights based approach into it so that the stakeholders get their legal entitlement
• Evaluation of one’s own experience and see how best the program can be carried forward on rights based approach
• Group discussions, sharing life stories, question & answers and interactive games
